How To Cook Northern Pike – Recipes
Northern Pike on the BBQ
Start by taking your fillets cube or slab whatever you prefer, put them in a mixing bowl.
Begin to add your dry rub consisting of salt, pepper, and if your feeling adventurous powdered dill.
cut and squeeze a fresh lemon over top of the fish, depending on the size of the fillets a whole lemon is sometime not necessary.
Microwave a table spoon of butter until melted and drizzle it over the seasoned fish.
Mix all the ingredients together and wrap in tin foil. Place in BBQ for a minimum of ten minutes. Cook to your preference and remember to check every once and a whole making sure you are not burning the fish.
Pan Fried Northern Pike
For this type of recipe you will need to have your pike filleted in wide slabs
Prepare your flour seasoning mixture:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/3 cup of corn meal
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and a dash of onion powder
- Pinch of salt and black pepper
Prepare your pre-dip mixture:
- 2/3 cup of buttermilk
- 1 Egg
- whisk together
Dip your fish fillets in the dip mixture then into the dry rub
Pan fry until fish is fully cooked through.
Poor Mans Lobster
Fillet your northern pike into 1-2 inch cubes
Pour half cup of white sugar and half teaspoon of salt into a pot filled with boiling water (48oz)
Melt your garlic butter
Let the fish cook long enough that it will float to the top of the water. When this starts to happen your pike is finished.
